Interview with Amy Logan, Modern-Day Slavery, and a Challenge to Supporters

Dear AHA Foundation Supporter,

Given that March is the month when we celebrate International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, in this issue we spotlight two incredible women making history themselves. Take a moment to discover what spurred Amy Logan, producer of The Price of Honor and author of The Seven Perfumes of Sacrifice, to make the fight against honor violence her life’s work. We promise you’ll be inspired.

Next, we urge you to vote, with just the click of a button, for Fraidy Reiss and Unchained At Last, one of our life-saving sister organizations, to help them win $50,000 as the People’s Choice Award at this year’s DVF (Diane von Furstenberg) Awards. Fraidy fights forced and child marriage with the ferocity of a survivor. It only takes a second to vote.

Amanda Parker, AHA Foundation Interim Executive Director, recently spoke at the Intersections of Human Trafficking Conference in Sacramento, California, bringing attention to an intriguing and often overlooked overlap between human trafficking and forced marriage. If you are a professional working with victims of such abuses, this is a must-read article.

Finally, we share with you some terrific news: to show our thanks and appreciation to an anonymous supporter who recently honored us with a $25,000 donation, we have designated this contribution as a challenge to our whole supporters’ community to raise an additional $25,000 for the AHA Foundation Spring Challenge campaign. When you support the AHA Foundation, you send critical help and a message of solidarity to the women and girls who are empowered with your gift, reminding them that they are not alone in their fight.

On behalf of those women and girls, and from all of us at the AHA Foundation, thank you.
