The UK non-profit Forward recently released a video showing the effects of female genital mutilation. The video, “Needlepoint,” was released in response to the fact that many families take their daughters to have FGM performed in their home countries during the summers since it is illegal in countries including the UK and the US. The film is meant to be emotionally provocative and show the dramatic effects of FGM on women and girls.
