Forced Marriages As a Problem Across Cultures

Forced marriage is a problem across cultures. This story highlights the experiences of two young women who underwent forced marriage–one who was taken to Yemen to be married and an Orthodox Jewish woman who grew up in an insular community. There is a call to action for the United States government to be able to do more in these cases; the UK has made forced marriage a crime and has a unit that helps women extricate themselves from forced marriages.
