Yusef Al Mezel, the leader of Ottawa’s taxi driver union, has been convicted of threatening his 25-year-old daughter after she took off her hijab, abandoned Muslim beliefs, and refused an arranged marriage: despite the conviction, he remains immensely popular among cab drivers in the city, who are collecting money for him.
