WHO Issues Guidelines to Treat FGM Victims

The World Health Organization (WHO) issued guidelines to physically and mentally treat victims of female genital mutilation (FGM). There have been approximately 200 million victims of this practice. FGM can lead to lifelong bleeding, problems urinating, infection, and, in some cases, death. Many health professionals are unaware of the best ways to help victims of FGM in the areas where it is practiced.
