FGM survivor details journey to recovery, Supporters dedicate their birthdays to AHA Foundation’s mission, Amplify your impact next week during #GivingTuesday

Dear AHA Foundation Supporter,

Thank you so much for taking time during these busy, pre-Thanksgiving days to reach out for my birthday. I appreciate the kind, encouraging messages. My birthday wish is that we will stand together to protect the children in the U.S. from abuses stemming from dangerous cultural practices. I believe this is possible — because of you.

You empower the journeys to healing and recovery — away from abuse, pain and shame. Recently AHA Foundation received a request from a female genital mutilation (FGM) survivor. Here she shares her story about undergoing FGM, and how supporters like you helped her recovery.

Social media has become a place where you can amplify the impact of your support with just a few clicks on your phone or tablet. This month, we interviewed three AHA Foundation supporters who selflessly, in honor of their birthdays, raised money for our cause on Facebook. Read about their social media campaigns here.

At the end of September, AHA Foundation filed a motion for leave to file an amicus curiae (friend of the court) brief in the first-ever federal prosecution of FGM in the U.S. This month, the judge presiding over the case granted our motion. Read more here.

#GivingTuesday is less than a week away. On this global day of giving, you can amplify your support. If you have not yet had a chance to support us this year, consider making your support go further by starting a fundraiser on Facebook. It takes less than 5 minutes. Or, look out for our fundraiser page!

Wishing you and your families a warm and delightful Thanksgiving!
