Drought in Ethiopia Effecting Forced Marriages

A drought in Ethiopia is having a terrible effect on the rate of forced marriages in the country, in addition to damaging the nation’s agriculture. Because some many families have been severely effected by the drought, many have been forced to arrange marriages for their daughter’s in order to survive. These marriages are often between underage daughters and older wealthy men. It is estimated that 41% of girls in Ethiopia are married before they turn 18.
