AHA Foundation and Evidentia Learning Launch Clinical eLearning Module on Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting

New Medical Version is available through institutional accounts in Evidentia Learning’s Child Abuse and Neglect eLearning Collection and Free Medical Collection.

October 1, 2026 — AHA Foundation and Evidentia Learning announce the launch of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting: Recognition, Care, and Safeguarding, a new eLearning module for medical professionals.

Developed by Evidentia Learning in collaboration with AHA Foundation, the module provides a clinically focused introduction to recognizing FGM/C, understanding its health consequences, and responding with appropriate care and safeguarding.

The learning covers classification and clinical context, health consequences, risk assessment, clinical management, and trauma-informed, culturally informed communication. A clinical case develops throughout the module, connecting these topics to assessment, pregnancy, family circumstances, and care planning.

Survivor perspectives and knowledge checks complement the clinical content, encouraging learners to consider both patients’ care needs and the importance of respectful communication.

“We want medical professionals to have access to education that combines a strong understanding of FGM/C, attention to survivors’ experiences, and practical approaches to care. Our collaboration with Evidentia Learning helps make this knowledge accessible through institutions that train and support healthcare professionals.”

Michele Hanash
Director of Policy and Women’s Programs

“Our aim was to connect the subject matter with the decisions and conversations medical professionals may encounter in practice. The combination of clinical learning, a case running through the module, and survivor perspectives gives learners several ways to engage with the material.”

The Medical Version is available through institutional accounts with access to Evidentia Learning’s Child Abuse and Neglect eLearning Collection or Free Medical Collection, at no additional cost to those users.
