At the First African Girls’ Summit on Ending Child Marriage in Africa, African leaders pledged to end child marriage in Africa by 2030. Attendees at the summit included First Ladies from African states, national governments, UN agencies, civil society organizations, young people, and traditional and religious leaders. The group agreed to enforce the minimum marriage age of 18 as set by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
