Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Asra Q. Nomani: Kamala Harris Was Silenced. Then She Silenced Us. – The New York Times

Last week, Senator Kamala Harris, a Democrat from California, made headlines when Republican senators interrupted her at a hearing of the Senate Intelligence Committee while she interrogated Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The clip of the exchange went viral; journalists, politicians and everyday Americans debated what the shushing signified about our still sexist culture.

The very next day, Senator Harris took her seat in front of us as a member of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. We were there to testify about the ideology of political Islam, or Islamism.

Political correctness taken too far. I am a supporter of Ayaan and will always admire her work. These senators however…. deeply disappointing

Shocking that senators just show up for a little while, and then leave. Barely ask questions. But the record stands. Hirsi Ali and Nomani have no agenda other than trying to warn us for the imminent danger. And they do this at great personal cost. Two muslim women who are being ignored by ignorant democrat senators.
Unbelievable, but now I have seen it clearly. Thankfully, there is a new government. Lenczowski sees the big picture. Knows what to do. Trump should offer him a top job.

As someone who has always considered myself a feminist and a progressive, I am absolutely flummoxed and flabbergasted by the left’s utter failure to support women who are victimized by Sharia. Ayaan you are an absolute heroine to me, keep up the good work.

I’ve rarely heard progressives (aka the women senators in question) openly condemn FGM, honor killings, death for leaving Islam, etc.

Maybe one day those in Congress, on the left & on the right, will set aside political posturing and do the right thing – instead of reading prepared talking points. That’s not why we elect representatives and send them to Congress.
