DOJ Report Released Highlighting Honor Violence

Statistics do not address the true scope of honor violence in the United States. It is difficult to conclusively link cases to religious motivation and cases are often dealt with as domestic violence cases. Earlier this year, the Department of Justice released a report that identified four different kinds of honor violence and estimated that 23-27 honor killings occur in the United States annually. The report found that the vast majority of honor violence cases occur because victims are considered too Westernized.
