Efforts to Stop Child Marriage in the US
Virginia State Senator Jill Vogel began a campaign against child marriage in her state after she learned of a story of a 50-year-old man in her district marrying a teenage girl. Vogel is the sponsor of a bill in the state legislature that would sharply decrease child marriage by ending the practice of allowing girls to marry at 16 if they are pregnant.
