Dear Friend,
Today is the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). As a survivor of FGM, this is a very important day to me, and I am proud to announce the recent publication by AHA Foundation of FOUR new legal guides for FGM survivors.
These guides are designed to help survivors in their respective states if they wish to seek justice for what was done to them. AHA Foundation was the first organization to start producing such guides, with the invaluable help of the law firms White & Case and Reed Smith. Read all about the new guides here.
Last month on January 27, International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we joined voices with the Independent Women’s Forum in reminding the United Nations and its agencies, other women’s organizations, and the leaders of the world that we must remember the victims of the Holocaust and the promise the world made to them: NEVER AGAIN. You can read our statement here.
Thank you for your support, which allows us to make a real difference in the lives of girls and women who have suffered because of this abusive practice. But the fight is not yet over. I hope you will keep standing with us.
