Ayaan Hirsi Ali spoke to students at Yale University on what we can do in the Western world to elevate feminists in these countries who are fighting for their rights every day. She discussed three critical disparities between women’s experiences in Western democracies and those in the Middle East and other developing regions and illustrated how the suppression of women’s rights and opportunities lead to broken societies with higher levels of poverty, instability, and reduced quality of life.
