Increase in Women at Risk of FGM in the United States

According to a recently released government study, more than a half a million girls are at risk of female genital mutilation (FGM) in the United States. This is more than a threefold increase from recent data and is largely due to an increase in immigration from countries where FGM is routinely practiced. FGM has been illegal in the United States for 20 years.
