Dear Friend,

The beginning of a new year is the perfect time to take stock and look to the future. With your help, we achieved so much in 2022, from the launch of an anti-Islamist coalition to new state legislation banning child marriage—and I know we can keep this momentum going into 2023. Indeed, we are already working with our partners on bills against child marriage and female genital mutilation in Connecticut, Washington, D.C., Michigan, Vermont, South Carolina, Texas, Maine, and New Hampshire.

We would never have made it this far without your support, so as we move forward, guided by our revamped mission “to preserve, protect, and promote Western freedoms and ideals,” I want to take this opportunity to thank you for everything you have helped us accomplish. In particular, the support of people like you recently helped us to reach our fundraising goal of $50,000, which was matched by a generous donor. These funds will be transformative: thank you.

A core part of our work is amplifying the voices of survivors and advocates, so I am proud to share with you our most-read blogs from 2022. These issues often don’t make the news, which means abuses like female genital mutilation and child marriage in the U.S. fly under the radar. By reading and sharing our blogs, you help us bring them into the spotlight, and thus take us one step closer to ending them. See here.

Also in the blog this month, AHA Foundation interviewed Rosa Zeegers, one of my oldest and dearest friends, who is now the Chairman of the AHA Foundation Board. Rosa’s commitment to the principle of liberty for all and her dedication to freedom and democracy are inspiring to me, and the interview demonstrates just how well-placed she is to lead AHA into the future. Read it here.

I know 2022 was a difficult year for many around the world, but through it all, you stood firmly with the cause of freedom. For me, this is a source of hope and strength. I believe that the power of principled individuals standing together is the foundation of all progress and the surest bulwark against injustice and tyranny.

Thank you for giving me this hope. As we move forward into the new year, I know I can rely on your determination to realize liberty for all.

Wishing you a prosperous and happy 2023,
