Matching Gift Campaign, FGM in the US and Abroad, A Day in the Life of our Executive Director and More

nov 2014

Dear AHA Foundation Supporter,

Today, I’m thrilled to be able to share with you some exciting news at the AHA Foundation. Thanks to the generosity of a major donor, any gift you give to help save lives WILL BE DOUBLED. The Matching Gift Campaign we are launching is a rare opportunity to double your impact in:

  • Protecting even more women and girls in the US from honor violence
  • Helping twice the number of girls stay in school and avoid unwanted child marriages
  • Passing even more US state laws against female genital mutilation

To double your gift, you’ll need to act fast. The Matching Gift Campaign totals $50,000. After we’ve reached $50,000, gifts will no longer be matched. So, the sooner you send in your gift, the greater chance it will be matched. The AHA Foundation’s Year-End Matching Gift Campaign is sponsored by a generous friend of the AHA Foundation, who, like you, believes in our work. They also know the powerful truth that when fighting violence against women, we’re stronger when we work together.

We also have exciting updates from our team on the ground. First, we are pleased to report that just few days ago an important piece of legislation went into effect in New Jersey. This legislation means better protection for survivors of honor violence – a huge victory that would not have been possible without your support. We also share with you our insights from a recent meeting held by the Department of Health and Human Services on female genital mutilation in the US. Finally, we give you a bird’s eye view of what it’s like to steer the ship at the AHA Foundation with a day in the life of our Executive Director.

I’m so proud to be able to share with you the life-saving work that’s being done at the AHA Foundation, and to show you how your support makes a difference. Together, we’re making a better, safer world for women and girls. Thank you!
