Washington’s Schizophrenic Approach Toward the Muslim Brotherhood

Raising questions about which Islamic groups the US government interacts with, both the Obama and George W Bush administrations have worked with Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated organizations in the United States: veteran journalist and security consultant Douglas Farah has said Obama’s approach closely resembles that of the Bush Administration, which all too often consisted of using Brotherhood organizations like CAIR, ISNA and the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) as vehicles for outreach to American Muslims: “Government officials should have a clear policy to avoid doing anything that grants groups like, CAIR, NAIT, ISNA, MAS and the International Institute for Islamic Thought legitimacy,” Farah said.
