According to a number of reports and statistics, the practice of child marriage perpetuates poverty and violence against women from generation to generation. Millions of girls are married as children worldwide. Child marriage is devastating and can be fatal. Girls’ bodies are generally not developed enough to withstand the rape they endure and birthing children.
