I am proud to announce that my foundation is launching a national campaign urging President Trump to sign an Executive Order to end female genital mutilation (FGM) in the United States.
The President has already shown leadership by signing the Stop FGM Act of 2020, the strongest federal law ever passed to protect girls from this abuse. But laws only matter if they are enforced. And today, loopholes remain. Without an Executive Order, critical measures—such as coordination across federal agencies, funding for survivor support, and accountability for states—remain dormant.
A law without prioritized and coordinated enforcement leaves girls vulnerable. An Executive Order in 2025 would make ending FGM in America a true national priority, ensuring that every possible tool is used to protect girls from this form of child abuse.
I shared this urgent call in an op‑ed published in The Hill, underscoring why this moment matters.
See how this campaign connects to realities on the ground in our latest blog by Michele Hanash, AHA’s Director of Policy and Women’s Programs. Michele reveals serious roadblocks frontline professionals face when working with survivors and girls at risk—and explains how an Executive Order could finally ensure those challenges are addressed.
With support from people like you, every step has built toward this moment. Our 18 Years of Impact timeline tells the story of nearly two decades of progress in ending FGM.
Together, we can make history. Add your voice to this campaign today.
Urge President Trump to sign the Executive Order so that every girl in America is truly protected, not just in theory but in practice. You can send this sample message to President Trump here.
With resolve,
