December Newsletter: 15 states still have not criminalized FGM, AHA Foundation travels to Arizona, Donor spotlight and more.

Dear AHA Foundation Supporter,
We are making our last efforts in the year to prepare to reach our goal of banning FGM in the U.S. by 2020!
A week ago, our team traveled to the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) conference in Scottsdale, Arizona to speak directly with legislators from the remaining 15 states that have yet to criminalize FGM–all of which run a high risk of becoming trafficking destinations for this practice.  As a result of our outreach, ALEC has accepted our model anti-FGM legislation as their main guide for state legislation against this child abuse. This is one of our biggest victories of the year!
Is your state one of these 15 states, and do you know why they’ve done little to nothing to ban FGM? Find out in our blog here.
Thanks to our wonderful supporters, we reached our goal of raising $30,000 through our Matching Gift Fund campaign. We are so grateful to everyone who made this possible! This month we shine a spotlight on two longtime supporters who share why they support AHA Foundation.
As this year comes to a close, I urge you to renew your commitment and support of our life-saving programs. A great thank you to those supporters who have already sent in their contributions. Your gift helps protect women and girls in the U.S. from culturally-motivated oppression and abuse.
Happy Holidays
