Female circumcision in Egypt still widespread

A doctor in Egypt is being taken to court for carrying out an illegal operation to circumcise young girls: it follows the death of a 13-year-old from a village in the Nile Delta, in the north of the country: an investigation has raised fears that the practice of female genital mutilation, which was banned two years ago, is still widespread in Egypt.
