AHA Launches Emerging Voices Circle

By Morgan Miller

A new community for young professionals who want real conversation, not performative debate.

Does this feel familiar to you? You care about values and ideas that have made the West a uniquely free society, but meaningful conversation feels impossible, too often it ends in outrage instead of insight.

We’re tired of that, too. We’ve sat through enough derailed discussions and scrolled through enough performative threads to know how quickly nuance disappears. Polarization has made honest conversation harder: debates get shut down, people self‑censor, and slogans replace substance.

We hear the same frustration from students who won’t raise a question in class, young professionals who avoid difficult topics at work, and friends who say they miss real debate. That’s why we’re launching the Emerging Voices Circle: to rebuild the space that’s been lost.

Emerging Voices Circle is a new community for supporters under 35 who want to engage rigorously with the ideas shaping liberal democracy today. This program is for young professionals who value disagreement without hostility—and who still believe ideas matter.

What the Circle looks like in practice

  • Twice‑yearly author‑led book discussions. Read a short, carefully chosen book and discuss it with a small cohort and the author.
  • Real access, not performative perks. Expect substantive Q&As and opportunities to connect with peers and mentors.

Inaugural session

Our first discussion will feature Andrew Doyle on The End of Woke on April 13, 2026. Doyle’s newest book examines how culture wars have strained institutions and reshaped speech norms, and it’s the kind of text that sparks the thoughtful, difficult conversations we want to have.

A final note from us, the hosts

We built Emerging Voices because we want better conversations, and because we believe the next generation can restore the norms that make free inquiry possible. Join us, bring your curiosity, and let’s trade outrage for insight together.

We look forward to welcoming the inaugural cohort of Emerging Voices as they help shape the future of AHA’s work.
